Fronds

Fronds

Some plant life can look alien. The unfurling fronds of a fern especially. That is the inspiration for this piece. With the silver mist to create and eerie feel.

Exodus

I am much inspired by nature. Recently, I saw a whole flock of crows in a jumbled flight before they went off to roost. All wings and cawing, it was magnificent and inspiring. Then I thought, what if the crows flew away…and never came back?

Seagull And Lighthouse

This is one of those Something-I-Saw-When-I-Was-Going-To-Sleep images. Just painting what I see in that mental drifting. Bit like the seagull really.

Drift.....

Hyperbunny

It was Easter. And I was again inspired to paint an Easter themed painting. The inspiration came from a dream, where this image of a rabbit appeared, and so I copied it onto canvas.

Untitled Shape

Look at a light. Close your eyes. See that burn, that outline or shape that lingers?
That's the origin of this piece.

Saturday

Often, when people try to help and reassure, they can make things worse. You can end up in a situation where the things people say, think, want, or the very things they people are, can reach up to drag you down.

With regards to the sun, it's about a feeling of being ignored. By whatever powers that be. This piece is named after the day on which I was having these feelings and thought of the image.

B&W Spiral

Black And White Spiral

I like spirals. Spirals are motion, and a common theme of how I think or feel. Round and round, deeper and deeper, into despair. So I did a black and white one as an expression of angst. For me, the white tree is to represent the hope, faith, strength in me, with the darkness swirling in to take over and cut off the light which the tree grows from. As a viewer you may well find your own interpretations.

Inspired by, and painted for a musician I know. Music lifts you up and carries you (represented by the swirling piano keys).. It is a wonderful and powerful thing. From sorrow, to anger, to joy, music can always be there for us. Music is life, emotion, expression, a living thing. The counter spiral represents these.

Cloud Formation Number One

This was originally going to be 'Exodus', but I got carried away with the clouds to the point where there was too much going on. Crows would have been lost. So, 'Exodus' was abandoned and 'Cloud Formation Number One' was born. Cumulonimbus is my favourite cloud type.

Red Shoe

Red Shoe

A red shoe. A foot on the right. The shoe has been kicked off the foot. I guess that's some kind of liberation?

Non-Religious Religious Painting

I painted this in response to a brief to create an image that could be hung in a hospital chapel that had multi faith use. I tried to use symbolism which the viewer could interpret in a way to suit their own individual beliefs.
