Why I Don't Paint Flowers
Mum didn't like the dark things I was painting, so I thought I'd paint the
freesias in the vase in the kitchen. Then scoured it, to give it depth.

Timepiece
Time. Sometimes it is oppressive and dominant. We live our lives by
the clock and by certain specific times which dictate our comings and goings.
| Origins Of |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Origins Of.
An image to express how the darkness and fears that tower over us originate from within
us. Thus, they are sometimes mere phantoms.
| Room |

Room
I saw the separate bits to this in my mind and painted
them. Then, when looking at the finished thing as a whole, I realised it was also a face. The Room is about feeling trapped,
about panic, about feeling closed in on all sides. With a glimpse of serenity and coolness through the window to the night
outside.

Untitled Figure
I'm not sure who she is or where she came from. She just flashed in my mind as I caught
a passing reflection in a mirror. I leave the viewer to decide on their own story. After all, art is relative.

Anything Ed Can Do...
We all have a scream inside of us. Moments of despair. Things that
trigger it, things that make us want to scream. This is my scream...

Mental Spiralling
My first completed piece. Inspired by that mental panic some
of us have, where we hook on one sad thought which leads onto another. Sinking, fretting, scared…

Untitled
I refer to this as 'Crosses', just for the sake of reference, even though
I'm reluctant to officially name it. Painted at Easter, I wanted to capture the power and drama of the crucifixion.
| Head |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Untitled
Officially untitled, though sometimes referred to as ‘Head’
or ‘Face’. An image to show the world as a living thing, one which may well be sick of us.
| Black And White Earth |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Black And White Earth
Our world is full of news and information. Created by us, reported by us, but all contained
within our planet. Whilst out in space, in that empty serenity, are our stories unheard, unread, unknown?
| Brushless |

Brushless Piece
This was just me messing with paint. But art is art so here it is on show. I suppose you
could call it body art. I used no brushes, just myself.
| Mr Sandman |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Mr Sandman
This was inspired by a line in the song 'Mr Sandman'. 'Give him two lips,
like roses in clover'.
| Ever Been Stuck? |
|
|

Ever Been Stuck?
An image that originally spilled out of my head as a scribble
on a bad day a few years ago. So when I was again at the height of dark emotion, feeling stuck and hopeless, I revisited it
in paint.

| Flow |

| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Flow
An image of a silhouetted figure, with trailing garments floating in the wind. This had
been in my mind for a while.
That explains half the painting. As for the rest, wasn't sure what I was doing here,
or where I was going. So I just attacked it with a scraper, and that added to the drama of the sky

|
| Jungle |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Jungle
An image which came to mind as I lay my head down to sleep and I thought it would be great
to put it onto paper. 'Jungle' because of the colours and shapes I used.
| Loss Prevention |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Loss Prevention
An image which came to mind during a bad day at work. It looks at narrow mindedness, and
the lack of freedom that we, as a society, as people, end up inflicting upon ourselves.
| Lover And Leaves |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Lovers And Leaves
I'm not keen on painting people, but this was an idea I couldn't resist. A much happier
image compared to my usual. Passion, love, nature and sexually ambiguous figures.
| Untitled Head/Book |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Untitled
This originally was just a man with a book as a head. That came to me as I was sat reading
outside. Then, after a bad day, I added more feeling to it.
| Sea And Clouds |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Sea And Clouds
Heavy, heavy clouds, dominating this scene, the sea almost insignificant.
The small boat in the centre to add a sense of the power of nature.
| Torn Apart |
|
|
| Acrylic on A3 canvas textured paper. |
Torn Apart
Another image expressing pain. I've represented the five senses
as well as emotion (the heart). The red lines clawed into the piece, as a tortured soul would claw at it’s prison in
agony.
